Dubai clinic introduces new anti-aging therapies
DUBAI, January 10, 2016
The Dubai Cosmetic Surgery clinic has unveiled new cutting-edge anti-aging therapies that combine more than one treatment for added health benefits and better results.
For decades, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy has been the go-to treatment for faster healing of wounds. It is no wonder that when incorporated with certain anti-aging skin treatments like micro-needling and fractional laser, the results become more distinguished, while the down time is cut by half.
Lola Ali Muhammad – Medical Aesthetician at Dubai Cosmetic Surgery clinic, said: “Today, life has become very busy and fast moving, and as a result, nobody can afford weeks off from work,” said Lola. She adds that it is the reason we have introduced a combination of Fractional Laser and PRP Therapy, and Micro-needling with PRP. “These two treatments offer excellent results within a short period of time and have minimal downtime.
“PRP is a component found in our blood. This plasma is rich in growth factors, which, for decades, has played a big part in the treatment of wounds. It works well with the human body because the blood is drawn from the patient, making it a more natural alternative method of skin rejuvenation.”
How the combinations work
The Platelet Rich Plasma, explained Lola, is separated from the red blood cells and other blood components. And in order to make the plasma richer with the platelets, it is taken through a centrifugation process which amplifies the concentration.
“The increased concentration of the growth factors is what plays an important role when it comes to healing wounds. So in other words, there has to be an injury for the PRP to do its job, hence its introduction into micro-needling and fractional laser, whose results hinge on creating micro wounds to the skin to allow for repair and rejuvenation to take place.”
PRP and Micro-needling therapy
“Micro-needling, as the name suggests, works by inflicting controlled micro wounds on the skin by puncturing the surface. As a result, new collagen and elastin is produced as the body is activated to fill in these micro wounds,” states Lola.
As the new collagen and elastin is generated, she continues, the skin becomes more firm, triggering more healing of other skin problems like stretch marks, acne scars, wrinkles, scars, pigmentation, and texture. “Used on its own, micro-needling can have a downtime which includes redness and a bit of swelling for a couple of days.”
Adding PRP to this procedure makes the results more prominent with a shorter downtime. “The PRP is applied on the target area, and then the micro-needling device is passed on this area, allowing for the plasma to sip into the micro-injuries created by the micro needles,” she said.
The plasma, which is rich in growth factors, goes into the deeper layers of the dermis. This procedure rejuvenates the skin, shaving years off the skin’s appearance. The PRP and micro-needling therapy does not leave any scars, and literally no downtime.
PRP and Fractional Laser
Fractional laser is another skin rejuvenation treatment that is known to have a downtime of at least five to seven days. According to Henda Kahia – cosmetologist and anti-aging expert at Dubai Cosmetic Surgery clinic, during the procedure, the laser creates thousands of microscopic wounds on the skin. “After they are inflicted, these micro wounds stimulate collagen production which immediately tightens the skin.”
“Some of the effects of fractional laser, on its own include a longer downtime, redness and swelling, and scaling of the skin which lasts for up to four days,” explained Henda, noting that when PRP is introduced to this procedure, everything changes.
“It is usually applied after the fractional laser, or injected into the skin. After the plasma gets into the deep of the dermis, it increases the production of the collagen and speeds up the recovery by significantly reducing the redness, and keeping down any inflammations as well as pigmentations on the treated area.”
The increased collagen stimulation augments the skin which leaves it smoother with an improved texture, and healthier and younger-looking.
“Fractional laser and PRP therapy is also very efficient in treating active acne as well as acne scars, wrinkles and fine lines, and skin tightening, and by incorporating PRP with these two major skin treatments – Micro-needling and Fractional Laser – the treatments become more effective, with minimal down time, and little to no side effects,” Henda added. – TradeArabia News Service
