Health insurance demand 'surging in Bahrain'

A healthcare revolution is poised to sweep Bahrain as increasing numbers of patients opt for private medical insurance, said a healthcare industry expert.

This is the view of leading regional healthcare provider Aster DM Healthcare, which opened its first clinic in Bahrain – the $2 million multi-speciality Aster Medical Centre in Gudaibiya – last month.

The company has rapid plans to expand, with four new centres poised to open across the country “within the next two years”, corporate strategies director Alisha Moopen told the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

“We have found that the health insurance segment is not well developed in Bahrain,” she said.
