Seha facilities attains global industry recognition

ABU DHABI, June 23, 2015

The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company’s (Seha) 11 facilities have attained Stage 6 on the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model EMRAM by HIMSS Analytics Middle East.

It is one of the highest recognitions for its use of clinical information technology (IT) systems and advanced safety features to enhance the patient care experience, said a statement.

Seha facilities awarded the Stage 6 titles are Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Al Rahba Hospital, Mafraq Hospital, Corniche Hospital, Al Ain Hospital, Tawam Hospital, Madinat Zayed Hospital, Ghayathi Hospital, Marfa Hospital, Silaa Hospital and Delma Hospital.

George Yacoub, interim chief information technology, said: “I am pleased that all of Seha’s 11 facilities have been recognised by a globally renowned organisation, such as HIMSS, for their tremendous efforts in improving patient experience. Reaching Stage 6 is a result of focus, good direction and an unwavering commitment from leadership and the entire care team.

“Cerner Millennium electronic health record supports our goal of integrated high-quality health care services to all our patients. With Cerner solutions, our staff can make more informed decisions and quickly access the information recorded for each patient at the click of a button.”

Seha is the only healthcare network, with 11 hospitals, in all of Asia to achieve a HIMSS 6 rating. Currently, there are no health care facilities in the Middle East to achieve HIMSS Stage 7.

HIMSS is a global, not-for-profit organisation that recognises hospitals who have improved their delivery of health care through the use of information technology and electronic management systems.

HIMSS Analytics developed EMRAM as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics Database.

Tracking their progress on a scale of 0 (lowest) to 7 (highest), hospitals can review the implementation and utilisation of IT applications. Organisations that demonstrate an advanced electronic patient record, paperless environment and capability for community health care information exchange achieve the highest score.

Michael Pomerance, vice president and managing director, Cerner Middle East and Africa, said: “We are honoured to support Seha’s facilities in their success and congratulate them on these prestigious recognitions. This is a testimony to many years of collaboration that Cerner and Seha have worked to improve the clinical systems to support the staff, their patients and the communities they serve.” - TradeArabia News Service
