Canadian Specialist Hospital (CSH), a leading private sector hospital in the UAE, has been reaccredited by Joint Commission International (JCI), the world’s largest healthcare accreditor, in recognition of its continuing commitment to patient safety, quality and ethical practices.

CSH was first accredited by JCI in 2011 and the reaccreditation follows three years of consistent focus on improving services and operational standards, said a statement.

JCI-accredited organisations are required to be reaccredited every three years as part of ongoing performance improvement, it said.

JCI accreditation is given to healthcare institutions which successfully complete rigorous assessments on the level of compliance to evidence-based medicine, quality assurance, medical ethics and patient safety, and the reduction of medical errors.

To get reaccredited, institutions have to demonstrate measures implemented to improve performance and address gaps revealed in previous assessments.

The accreditation and reaccreditation processes are aimed to see that hospitals ensure a safe, minimum-risk environment for patients and caregivers, offer quantifiable benchmarks for quality and patient satisfaction, sustain performance improvement and enhance efficiencies.
