Qatar Airways steps up Ebola preventive measures

Doha, August 14, 2014

Qatar Airways has installed the very latest technology at Hamad International Airport to minimise the possibility of any individuals infected with Ebola entering Qatar.

The cameras which monitor body temperature using heat sensors are able to detect any traveller with a mild fever, thereby enabling airport staff to monitor and identify anyone who may potentially be infected, the airlines said.

The same cameras were used during the H1N1 outbreak to successfully monitor and limit the spread of that infection, it said.

“We would like to reassure all our passengers that we are monitoring the Ebola situation very closely, and are in contact with local and international health and aviation organisations to ensure that all necessary and appropriate measures are in place to protect our passengers, our staff and the general public,” said a Qatar Airways spokesperson. – TradeArabia News Service
