'Bad breath could be sign of internal health issues'
Berlin, July 7, 2014
About 25 per cent of Europeans are reported to suffer from bad breath, which could be a sign of serious internal health problems.
According to German PrpDente, poor oral hygiene is the main cause of bad smell, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
In 90 per cent of the cases, the odour is caused by bacteria present below the gum line and on the back of the tongue.
The health initiative recommends brushing or gently scraping the back of the tongue and improving the health of the gums by using dental floss in addition to the toothbrush.
People suffering from the condition should also undergo specialised cleaning sessions at least once a year.
Experts warn against disregarding bad breath as this may be a sign of internal health issues including tonsillitis, lung infection, kidney problems, or even diabetes. - TradeArabia News Service
