Souq.com, Saudi varsity partner for student training

RIYADH, March 15, 2018

Souq.com, an Amazon company, has signed an agreement with the Saudi Electronic University for an initiative that allows for knowledge exchange, student projects and internship opportunities.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at the University's headquarters in Riyadh by dean of the Administrative and Financial Sciences College at the Saudi Electronic University Dr Thamer Omar Alhussain. The signing event was attended by the University's vice president of Academic Affairs, Prof Abdullah Bin Omar Al-Najjar, and Saleem Hammad, general manager of Souq.com, Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Electronic University aims to develop the values and skills of the Saudi youth in line with the Saudi Vision 2030. This agreement is part of Souq’s ongoing efforts to train and create job opportunities for Saudi Arabia’s younger generation and support in building a knowledge based society in the Kingdom Saudi Arabia.

“We are proud to be associated with this prestigious university and provide them our support for the Saudi Vision 2030,” said Hammad.

“This initiative will ensure mutual use of available resources and ensure optimal investment through accumulated expertise, in addition to bolstering the concept of social collaboration. With such internship opportunities, we aim to improve the training of future leaders of the country and make them an integral part of real business projects. At Souq, we endeavour to encourage the younger generation to innovate and achieve their own professional ambitions and this collaboration is a step forward in that direction.”

Dr Alhussain said, “This agreement sets the framework for cooperation projects and initiatives between the College and Souq, through the exchange of knowledge and consultation, student projects, and cooperative training. Through this, we seek to realize the University's vision to contribute to building a generation armed with skills and knowledge that covers the needs of the job market and serves the comprehensive development requirements to realize the Saudi Vision 2030.”

Saudi Electronic University is an accredited government establishment, founded with the approval of the late Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for the decision of the Higher Education Council to establish it in 2011.

The university contains College of Administrative and Financial Sciences, College of Computing and Informatics, College of Health Sciences, College of Science and Theoretical Studies. – TradeArabia News Service
