Aurak civil engg programme gets key accreditation

RAS AL KHAIMAH, September 16, 2017

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (Aurak) said its Bachelor of Science in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering programme has been granted accreditation by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology's (ABET) Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC).

ABET is the leading accrediting body for post-secondary academic programmes in ‘applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology.’

The accreditation comes following a site visit by a three-member team to the university’s campus in Ras Al Khaimah, in October last year.

With this move, Aurak said three of its programmes within the School of Engineering - Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering, and the Bachelor of Science in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering - have been granted Abet accredition.

Prof  Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, the university’s president, whose focus over his six-year tenure has been accreditation and quality, said: "This latest accreditation represents yet another positive step forward for this young university. Our School of Engineering remains on course to have all nine of its programs accredited by 2020."

Further site visits for the university’s engineering programmes are expected during the 2017/18 academic year, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
