Jafza, Danube opens classroom for unskilled workers

DUBAI, May 28, 2017

Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), a DP World Company and the UAE’s flagship trade and logistics hub for the Middle East region and Africa (MEA) has formally opened its first classroom to train and develop unskilled workers within the free zone in co-ordination with Dubai developer and building materials company Danube.

The launch was held in the presence of Mohammed Al Muallem, the chief executive of Jafza and senior vice president and managing director of DP World - UAE Region, Dr Omar Al Muthanna, the chief executive of UAE’s Community Development Authority (CDA) and Rizwan Sajan, the founder and chairman of Danube Group and other senior officials.

The classroom located in Danube Welfare Centre will be used to deliver free seminar, lectures and a comprehensive curriculum on Basic English, personality development and computer skills.

A non-profit social organisation licensed by the CDA, the Danube Welfare Center was set up in 2012 to make contributions to society and deliver a positive transformation in the lives of workers in Dubai.

Earlier this year, Jafza had signed a MoU with Danube Welfare Centre following which motivational talks and registrations were conducted to help workers enrol for the classes. Within a sort span of three weeks over 1,000 students have registered for the classes.

It offers a range of free training courses to help unskilled workers improve their language skills and further develop their careers. The initiative includes a three-month basic English language programme.

Sajan said this was a great initiative undertaken to help the blue-collar workers learn English and better themselves. "We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Jafza and plan on opening many more centres in collaboration with them," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
