Top education and career fairs open in Muscat

MUSCAT, April 19, 2017

The 18th edition of Oman’s leading event for global higher education-GHEDEX and the 16th edition of Oman’s preferred Omanisation Career Fair- OCF commenced yesterday (April 18) in Muscat, Oman.
 
Organized by OITE Trade Fairs, the exhibition was inaugurated by Dr Said bin Hamed bin Said Al Rubaii - secretary general of the Education Council at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre and will take place until April 20.

Students from across Oman will have the option of choosing from among 200 top-notch universities and colleges spanning 20 countries at GHEDEX covering major higher education institutions (HEIs).

New participants at GHEDEX this year include HEIs from India led by the Education Promotion Society for India, HEIs from Philippines led by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education and HEIs from Saint Lucia, Egypt and Qatar. The Exhibition also receives increased presence of HEIs from Malaysia, Ireland, UAE, UK & USA.

The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) will conduct a presentation on external scholarship schemes at undergraduate and postgraduate level targeting representatives from overseas universities & higher education service providers at GHEDEX. Additionally MoHE will also conduct a presentation on external and internal scholarships at undergraduate level in Arabic by MoHE officials for the general public.

OCF will feature 50 leading companies from across the spectrum of Oman’s private and public sector. Omanis will also have the exclusive chance to meet potential employers and career experts and gain valuable information about current vacancies and upcoming opportunities in the job market from some of the highly reputed names in the industry.

Prospective opportunities for training will also be at hand from the Technical & Administrative Training Institute LLC, Hilal Al Busaidi Higher Education Service, BAS Aircraft Engineering Training Centre, National Hospitality Institute SAOC and the Srilankan Aviation College.

In an effort to promote In-Country Value (ICV) Human Capital development in Oman and raise opportunities while coordinating the efforts of the industry, the Ministry of Oil & Gas HR ICV supported by the Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL), will be focusing on ICV Programmes that will further the development of a specialised workforce and provide training opportunities for Omani students through internships and work experience programmes.

The ICV stand will showcase a range of new products and services, launched in 2016, including Petrojob, the Local Workforce Development Project (LWDP), the Opal Star learning hub and careers advice services. The stand will also provide advice, from industry experts, on CV and Interview preparation skills and the opportunity to experience the latest technology in interactive learning.

Seminar sessions to add value at GHEDEX & OCF

Content-rich seminar sessions will add value to GHEDEX & OCF this year, with an excellent range of information from professional speakers.

The morning and evening seminar sessions, held on all three days of GHEDEX & OCF from 10:30am onwards, will share knowledge, experiences, ideas, and information with attendees besides lending them insight into the important facets of higher education & training. – TradeArabia News Service
