Dubai Tourism backs Careers UAE

DUBAI, April 9, 2017

Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing will be participating in this year’s Careers UAE, a major jobs and training fair with a focus on Emiratisation.

The event opens today (April 9) to run until April 11 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Ahmad Khalifa Al Falasi, CEO, Corporate Services & Investment, Dubai Tourism, said: “Dubai Tourism is keen to participate in Careers UAE, as it is an ideal platform for us to seek and encourage young UAE nationals to take up exciting positions in the tourism industry, and play a crucial role in achieving our tourism vision.

“We believe that our youth have the potential to make a significant contribution to our organisation, and this exhibition provides us a valuable opportunity to connect with promising local talent and explain to them the various roles and responsibilities they can shoulder as future tourism leaders.”

Al Falasi pointed out the importance of explaining to young UAE nationals the role played by Dubai Tourism in promoting Dubai and its initiatives like Expo 2020, which would pave the way for qualified UAE youth to help realise Dubai’s Tourism Vision of attracting 20 million visitors by 2020.

The Dubai College of Tourism (DCT), established under Dubai Tourism,  will also have a stand in Careers UAE to highlight key Emiratisation initiatives including ‘Medyaf’, that aims to attract and train UAE nationals for a future career in the tourism industry, the Emirati Tourist Guide programme, and the initiative of Dubai Summer Surprises, the summer extravaganza run by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of Dubai Tourism, to recruit young UAE nationals as volunteers during DSS 2017.

The DCT stand will feature 15 partners of Dubai Tourism representing various sectors including retail, hospitality and entertainment.

Essa Bin Hadher, general manager, DCT, said: “The Dubai College of Tourism is pleased to participate in Careers UAE, an event that brings together Emirati youth seeking suitable job opportunities and prospective employers from the government and private sectors.”

“As part of our common endeavour to contribute towards Dubai’s economy by absorbing talented young Emiratis and training them in tourist-facing roles in different sectors, DCT has joined hands with reputed partners in the private sector to provide our young visitors the opportunity to choose from an attractive mix of career options. We look forward to welcoming many young nationals to our stand during the three-day career fair and further accelerate our programme of Emiratisation,” Bin Hadher added. – TradeArabia News Service
