University creates genetically modified lab animals

MANAMA, February 8, 2016

A Bahrain-based university has become the first in the Arab region to create genetically modified laboratory animals. Two batches of transgenic mice were developed by a team from the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), led by College of Graduate Studies dean Dr Mohammed Dahmani Fathallah and senior staff members from the Life Sciences Department and Al Jawhara Centre for Molecular Medicine and Genetic Diseases, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
