DUBAI, December 21, 2015
The UAE Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) and LinkedIn have reviewed progress on their partnership that commenced in April.
It aimed at bringing the 94,000-plus Federal government employees online on LinkedIn to create a unique government skills bank, the partnership has already resulted in a 45 per cent increase in the number of employee profiles on LinkedIn, said a statement.
The partnership also aimed to create an online forum for interaction and information-sharing among federal Government employees and departments, it said.
Laila Al Suwaidi, acting chief executive officer - HR Planning and Projects Sector, FAHR, said: “Through the course of this partnership, and with the participation of all employees who are coming online on LinkedIn, we are building a unique skills bank, which is shaping up to be a truly diverse collection of specialisations and capabilities.
"This is the first step towards a situation wherein we are able to pinpoint the competencies that we need to develop, and will serve as a way to visualise the future of the UAE labour market.”
“Together with LinkedIn, we have held numerous workshops attended by over 400 federal government employees from across departments. The objectives of these workshops were to enable our employees to create quality profiles on LinkedIn, and through their skills and qualifications listings, to further bolster the strength of data in the skills bank”, she added.
Ali Matar, head of Talent Solutions, LinkedIn Mena, said: “With a keen interest in digitising services, the UAE is well on its way to building an agile, relevant and service-driven digital government. The FAHR- LinkedIn partnership adds another facet to this unique story, whereby government employees are educated, empowered and engaged with the latest tools to build their professional identity.
"LinkedIn is proud to be associated with FAHR, the skills bank and the UAE Federal Government economic graph initiatives; a project that is made more relevant with the improved access we now offer in Arabic, both on the website as well as the mobile app.” - TradeArabia News Service
