Microsoft Imagine Cup winners announced

MANAMA, June 3, 2015

The winners of this year's Microsoft Imagine Cup Pan-Arab Semi-Finals were announced last night (June 2).

Team T2 from Tunisia took top spot in the Games category, while Team BCR from Palestine won first prize for Innovation and Team Freedom Fragrance from the UAE took the crown in the World Citizenship category, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The competition was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, at the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa.

It was supported by the Economic Development Board, Tamkeen and eGovernment Authority, among other partners.

First prize winners received a $7,000 cash prize followed by $4,000 and $2,000 for the runners-up.

All 36 teams displayed their projects at the event, which was evaluated by a panel of judges.

The winners will now go on to represent the Arab world at the Worldwide Finals scheduled to be held in Seattle, US, from July 27 to 31.

Participating students hailed from Algeria, Bahrain, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and the UAE. - TradeArabia News Service
