Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) has announced the adoption of the new ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) profile structure in order to enhance the digital competencies and knowledge of its employees.

The adoption of the new ICDL structure aims at tackling the digital skills gap among QCAA’s employees, through providing them with digital data protection skills and equipping them with the necessary tools needed in using computers and the Internet.

The training programmes will be offered in the QCAA’s training centre, which has been accredited by ICDL Arabia as an Authorised Training & Testing Centre, and under the supervision of ICDL certified instructors.

QCAA expressed its readiness to implement the New ICDL structure during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding created to strengthen the joint efforts to furthering digital literacy between QCAA’s headquarters.

Jamil Ezzo, director general of ICDL Arabia, said: “We are pleased to cooperate with Qatar Civil Aviation Authority to implement the new ICDL certification programme which features new innovative modules which will enable the candidates to improve their digital skills, especially in terms of Information Security, which has emerged as a critical issue.”

“Through our strategic partnership, we are looking forward to assisting 1000 employees gain the necessary IT skills that are relevant to today’s digital world and which will contribute towards the transition to knowledge-based economies in Qatar and the GCC,” he added.

The New ICDL certification programme, to be offered in the QCAA’s accredited centre, includes new content with the addition of four new modules that will ensure that candidates have the digital skills necessary for their present and future scenarios. This allows both candidates and businesses to maximize their digital knowledge and efficiency, by staying ahead of emerging trends and the latest technologies.

The revised structure of the ICDL programmes offers greater flexibility in customizing ICT skills learning in line with individual and corporate business needs through a selection of 13 available modules.

The new ICDL profile has no end date or time limit which enables candidates to develop through continuous learning depending on the functional requirements of the learner. The ICDL profile displays for the candidate any successfully completed modules to date and allows the candidate to add other modules over the years according to varying functional needs and desires to acquire the most current ICT skills.

While maintaining its unified global standard, the new ICDL structure offers three different levels of digital proficiency and certifications through its Base, Standard and Advanced modules.

The Base modules certification is based on four pre-set modules that are essential for everyone. The Standard modules certification contain all four Base modules plus three additional modules that can be selected from the list of 9 Standard modules.

The Advanced modules certification consists of advanced skills in any three of the four office applications, enabling candidates to become power users of those applications. – TradeArabia News Service
