Bahrain’s advancements in the labour market were highlighted during an honouring ceremony yesterday (December 25).
Pioneers and outstanding contributors to the field were presented with awards by Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan during the 30th annual ceremony to honour outstanding employees and distinguished establishments, which was held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad at the Gulf Hotel, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
"The King is proud of the efforts and dedication of all those chosen for the honouring ceremony for their position as a role model to their colleagues and others," said Humaidan, who is also Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) board chairman.
"Successful planning and execution of training programmes is the brainchild of not just us, but our partners' businessmen and unionists.
"More is needed as the labour market is growing and has become more competitive."
Among those honoured were four pioneering businessmen, 14 outstanding administrators, seven establishments and companies, a budding entrepreneur, six workers in non-recognised professions, four disabled workers, five people in the oil and gas sector, and 12 in the industrial sector.
Another six were awarded from the transportation, storage and delivery sector, while nine were from the banking, insurance and financial sector, 17 in the construction sector, 23 in the retail sector, six in the hospitality sector, six in the social activities sector and seven in professions new to Bahrainis.
Also present at the ceremony were ministry under-secretary Sabah Al Zayani, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) chairman Khalid Almoayyed and Northern Governor Ali Al Asfoor.
Standard Chartered Bank employee Nada Bucheeri said, on behalf of those honoured, that it was a proud moment for all of them to be recognised for their dedication.
"Every Bahraini worker is outstanding and selecting us shows that the best of the best have been selected," said the Bahraini.
"We still have the energy to further achieve not just for the development of the workplace, but for the entire country."
She also praised the ministry's wages' support schemes, which she said had helped many low-income families. - TradeArabia News Service
