Qatar Navigation (Milaha), a leader in marine transportation and offshore support, has honoured its staff who have completed their company-sponsored degree programmes in Qatar and Oman.

Ahmad Abdallah Jasmi and Faisal Yousif Al Majed received a bachelor’s degree in port management and maritime shipping and transportation from Oman’s International Maritime College, and Nisreen Al Emadi received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Stenden University in Qatar.

Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani, Milaha’s chairman and managing director, said that it was “yet another milestone in Milaha’s investment in the education of young Qataris, who consider studying technical disciplines that have applications in the maritime shipping and logistics industry.”

Khalifa Ali Al-Hetmi, president and chief executive officer, honoured the graduates at the company’s headquarters and presented certificates of appreciation to them, wishing them much success in their future careers with Milaha.

Milaha’s Academic Sponsorship Program is just one part of the company’s efforts to support and encourage Qatari talent, and covers all universities and colleges within Qatar, said a statement.

In an endeavor to diversify the experience beyond Qatar, the programme also includes a number of recognised specialty universities and colleges outside Qatar, tailored to Milaha’s needs.

The fields and majors covered in the programme include bachelor’s degrees in port management, transportation, logistics, maritime shipping, electrical, industrial, and mechanical engineering, as well as other fields like accounting, finance, computer engineering, administration, and economics, it said.

After fulfilling their academic requirements, the graduates would be qualified to implement what they learned in their positions at various departments within Milaha, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
