Maktoum Foundation eyes USAID partnership

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation received a delegation from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and discussed potential partnership opportunities.

The delegation was headed by Oliver Wilcox, senior government advisor for the Bureau of the Middle East and Irene Lee, vice council at the United States Consulate General in Dubai.

Sultan Lootah, executive director for Entrepreneurship Development at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation and Dr Sulaiman Al Hattlan, CEO of the Arab Strategy Forum, the foundation’s intellectual platform, received the delegation.

The group members were briefed about the Foundation’s objectives and accomplishments to overcome the challenges facing the Arab World in the areas of development and knowledge.

Sultan Lootah said: 'We exchanged views related to development, especially in the area of education, in the Arab World. Supporting education and human capital development are among the Foundation’s main objectives.'

'It is our endeavour to identify and take forward collaboration opportunities that will lead to a continued development of sustainable knowledge-based economies in the Arab World,” he noted.

According to him, the Foundation has tied up with several regional institutions 'to devise programmes that help build a stronger knowledge-base and skill-set, and develop a generation equipped with the ability to face the challenges of sustainable development in the Arab World.'-TradeArabia News Service
