Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), the authority behind the visionary Plan Abu Dhabi 2030, will showcase career prospects that are on offer for UAE nationals at Careers UAE 2009.

The ninth edition of Careers UAE, which opened today (March 29) at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre will end on Tuesday (March 31).

The expo is Dubai’s prominent career fair that enables talented UAE nationals from all fields to meet directly with recruiters and hiring managers representing top employers.

One of the key objectives for the UPC, in view of Plan Abu Dhabi 2030, is to activate innovative urban planning responses supporting and energising projects that serve its diversification strategy.

“Our participation at Careers UAE exhibition is a clear testament of our sustained commitment towards attracting Emirati talent to take up key positions at UPC,” said Falah Mohammed Al Ahbabi, general manager, Abu Dhabi UPC.

“With the UPC receiving official approvals on the much awaited master plans for Capital District, Khalifa B and Shahama and Bahia revitalisation, the need for recruiting both fresh graduates and professional urban planners on a regular interval has increased.”

He further said that Careers UAE was not only a strategic platform for UPC to interact with the country’s bright youth but also an opportunity to educate them about the challenging roles and growth prospects that UPC offers.

Abdullah Al Sahi, deputy director human resource and corporate services Abu Dhabi UPC, said: “It is our constant endeavour to foster UPC’s reputation of being the preferred organisation in the Middle East for developing high quality professionals in the realm of urban planning.

“In order to achieve this, we will continue to implement innovative training and development practices, which have been formulated by the most renowned professionals in the world,” he added.

The UPC, in the last one year has grown from 12 to over 100 employees based on the high demand of professionals in the urban planning field as well as its supporting disciplines. – TradeArabia News Service
