Bahrain Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro on Monday addressed the first edition of a forum spotlighting success stories in the public sector.

Speaking at the two-day symposium organised by The Bahrain Centre for Excellence, Dr Fakhro outlined the ministry's efforts to promote small and medium enterprises and bolster their competitiveness, being a key pillar of the national economy.

The ministry, he said, has set up a committee to buttress support for these businesses.

It has joined hands particularly with the Economic Development Board, Tamkeen, UN Industrial Development Organisation, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bahrain Development Bank, Supreme Council for Women, Labour Market Regulatory Authority and Ibda'a Microfinance Bank.-TradeArabia News Service
