Plan for entrepreneurial hub in Dubai

Dubai, November 3, 2009

The Entrepreneur Business Village (EBV), an initiative for enterprise development, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Canadian Business Council aimed at creating an entrepreneurial hub in Dubai.

The hub will support innovative ideas that accelerate economic growth in Dubai, a statement said.

“The MoU aims to raise the spirit of initiative and creative thinking amongst entrepreneurs, companies and small and medium enterprises, and motivate them to contribute to their own and the overall economic growth,” said Abdul Baset Al Janahi, chief executive officer of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development.

“Canadian Business Council will share their expertise in supporting SMEs and thus further enable us to meet our objectives,” he added.

The MoU comes as part of the organisation's strategy to sign partnerships with international institutions, strengthen ties of cooperation with economic organizations and thus stimulate the small and medium enterprises sector.

It focuses on developing joint programs to enhance the performance of members and develop their projects through regular interactions.

The agreement will also work to create new jobs, thus adding to the socio-economic welfare of the nation.  The partnership will also contribute to encouraging members to participate in specific exhibitions, workshops and seminars.

The Canadian Business Council will work to establish many activities in Entrepreneur Business Village, which will provide business incubation services for joint ventures.

Marie – Josée Primeau, president of the Canadian Business Council in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, said: “Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development is setting new benchmarks in the development of the small and medium enterprises sector.

“Through the MoU, we can share global best practices with the Establishment members and also assist them with market information, and in enabling growth through collaborations with Canadian businesses.”

“We are very delighted to be actively involved in all future business development platforms. We will definitely work towards materialising our mutual vision,” she added.

The EBV aims to provide support and guidance for small and medium-sized enterprises. It extends on an area of one million sq ft strategically located in Deira and offers facilities for trade and business. – TradeArabia News Service
