Al Gihaz Contracting wins $198m NEOM substation order

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has awarded a major contract for the setting up of a 380/132kV substation within the mega futuristic city NEOM in the north west of Saudi Arabia.
The contract worth SR744 million ($198.3 million) for NEOM Mountain Bluk Supply Point (BSP) was clinched by local firm Al Gihaz Contracting Company.
A diversified Saudi company, Al Gihaz boasts more than 40 successful years of providing integrated solutions for conventional energy, renewable energy, communications infrastructure, security services, and entertainment projects.
The project scope includes construction of new indoor 380/132kV gas insulated substation (GIS) within the NEOM facility.
This is the second order being snapped up by Al Gihaz Contracting Company. Earlier this year, SEC had awarded a SR515 million ($137.4 million) contract to the group for NIC Circle 380/132kV substation in NEOM.
Project scope for NIC Circle BSP includes construction of new indoor 380/132kV gas insulated substation as well as expansion of Dhuba Green Substation.
It also involves design, engineering and materials procurement services on a lumpsum turnkey basis, factory inspection and testing, transport and delivery to site, installation and construction as well as site inspection, testing and commissioning.-TradeArabia News Service
