Abu Dhabi inks stadium construction deal with EGA

ABU DHABI, November 6, 2018

Emirates Global Aluminium Company (EGA), a leading industrial company in the region, has signed an agreement with Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) for the construction of a sports stadium at Al Samha area of the UAE capital, said a report.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Saif Bader Al Qubaisi, general manager of Abu Dhabi City Municipality, and Dr Ali Al Zarouni, deputy executive director of Production, Technology Development and Transfer at EGA, reported state news agency Wam.

The initiative is intended to bring happiness to community members, provide a better living experience, promote the values of social responsibility and contribute to the overall sustainable development seen by Abu Dhabi.

"This agreement epitomises the commitment of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities - Abu Dhabi City Municipality to foster partnerships and cooperation with key institutions," Al Qubaisi said. "It also comes in the context of activating the values of communal responsibility, utilising them in community service and development, and building infrastructure and entertainment facilities."

Al Qubaisi thanked the Emirates Global Aluminium Company for its vital role in serving the community and its keenness to cheer up people by providing such a sports facility which will have a positive impact on the residents of the area.

"The EGA is a flagship of development and community service as evidenced by the two parks it has already established in Samaha as part of its core values and objectives. It also reflects EGA’s commitment to social responsibility where such development projects are turned into reality to delight the community," he noted.

"The ADM is keen to forge partnerships with national institutions and capitalise on their expertise and capabilities to upgrade infrastructure. The EGA has set a good example to be emulated by contributing effectively to materialise the vision of Abu Dhabi Government," Al Qubaisi said, while highlighting the importance of such partnerships and cooperation to boost development and improve services to world-class standards.

The agreement with EGA stresses the commitment of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities towards the community.

Dr Al Zarouni said: "Our partnership with Abu Dhabi City Municipality is a part of our effort to fulfil our social responsibility by supporting local communities and neighbouring areas. We hope that such facilities would add up to the public services in Al Samha, improve the cityscape and promote a healthy lifestyle for the residents."
