L&T showcasing its decisive EPC expertise at Wetex

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) of India is showcasing its decisive engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) edge in infrastructure development at the ongoing Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (Wetex) expo in Dubai.

The $18-billion leading technology, engineering and construction conglomerate operates from over 30 countries and the company is also ranked among the world's top 30 contractors.

The capabilities of the construction arm of L&T span the entire gamut of construction - civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering - and its services extend to all core sector industries and infrastructure projects, said the company in a statement.

In the GCC itself, L&T has an enviable track record of executing projects of 2,118 km lanes of roads, 55 km of metros, 33.4 km tunnels, 1.45 million sq m of pavements for airports and over 210 substations of various capacities, it added.

L&T Construction straddles distinct business verticals – heavy civil infrastructure, power transmission and distribution, transport infrastructure, water and smart world communication and buildings and factories.

L&T, which is ranked among world’s best employers by Forbes in 2018, has a strong track record of executing prestigious and challenging mega projects successfully and delivering on time.

L&T stand at the expo clearly illustrates the strength of the Indian engineering and construction conglomerate across domains. The company has established a strong presence in the Middle East’s construction, power-transmission, infrastructure, hydrocarbon sectors over the past four decades.

L&T’s power transmission distribution business holds a preeminent status in the region having executed several landmark power infrastructure projects for Dewa.

According to him, significant projects under execution include more than 20 substations and cabling projects across various voltages and an extra high voltage substation of 400 kV.

L&T is also executing several substation and cabling projects in UAE for utilities like Transco and AADC. Other key infrastructure projects being executed by L&T includes a 375-million-litres-per-day sewage treatment plant in Jebel Ali, on a turnkey basis.

L&T’s international track record in the power sector covers over 4,000 km of transmission lines of various voltages up to 400 kV, more than 300 substations as well as more than 3,000 km of cabling, said Madhavadas.

Across the renewable energy portfolio, L&T is at the forefront as one of the largest EPC contractors in India having executed more than 1.5 GW of solar power projects.

L&T is also executing various substation and transmission line projects for SEC and Saudi Aramco, Normal Paraffin & Derivative Complex for Farabi Petrochemicals at Yanbu, and developing the Hasbah offshore gas field and Midyan gas processing facilities, he added.

The list of prestigious mega projects executed by L&T in the Middle East is extensive. It includes Oman’s Salalah Airport, a huge interchange and road project in the UAE, the Riyadh Metro, one of the largest international orders bagged by L&T till date, and the Abu Dhabi Airport airside works.-TradeArabia News Service
