Damac awards $139m Dubai luxury tower contract

DUBAI, September 1, 2018

UAE-based Damac Properties has awarded a Dh512-million ($139 milllion) contract to China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) for the construction of tower C at its luxury mixed-use development, Aykon City, located on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.

One of Damac’s most ambitious projects in Dubai, Aykon City features the unique concept of an entire city-like infrastructure within Dubai. The mixed-use development includes premium residential, hospitality and commercial units.

Aykon City will also have seamless access to the 3.2km long waterway of the Dubai Water Canal, which runs all the way to the Arabian Gulf, from the Creek in Old Dubai, said a statement from Damac.

The new contract covers civil construction works for tower C, the residential tower in the award-winning $2-billion development, overlooking the Dubai Water Canal, it stated.

On the new contract, Ali Sajwani, the general manager of operations at Damac Properties, said: "CSCEC shares our commitment to quality, safety and timely delivery. After a thorough tendering process, we have chosen to expand the Chinese group’s remit in the Aykon City project beyond Dh1.1 billion, having awarded them the contract to build tower B earlier this year."

"We also look forward to seeing the towers of Aykon City complement Dubai’s distinctive skyline and one of the world’s greatest urban transformations, the Dubai Water Canal," stated Sajwani.

Tower C, known as ‘The Residence’, will have a total built up area of nearly 1.8 million sq ft. It will feature studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, all with premium interiors and exceptional finishing, according to Damac.

The tower will also boast ‘The Club’, an exclusive residents-only lifestyle and entertainment space with spectacular views of the iconic Dubai Water Canal and Safa Park, it stated.

The 62-floor tower is made up of two basement, a ground and ten podium levels, in addition to a dedicated lifestyle and entertainment level, 48 residential floors and a rooftop, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
