Bahrain starts delivery of 3,000 homes in Salman Town

MANAMA, June 11, 2018

Bahrain's Housing Ministry has started the distribution of 3,000 ready housing units to the beneficiaries at Salman Town, the largest under-construction town in the kingdom, in terms of area, number of units and various services.

The move is in line with the order of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to distribute 5,000 housing units, within the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to meet the citizens’ needs marking the holy month of Ramadan, and as part of the efforts of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, to continue implementing its action plan, reported BNA.

The Salman Town unit handover is taking place in parallel to the delivery of the keys of the Khalifa Town’s units to owners, the report added.

The Housing Ministry’s undersecretary, Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, said the ministry’s keenness to begin operating the first phases of the two towns at the same time reflects the extent of HM King Hamad’s interest in the citizens’ welfare, as well as the directives of HRH Premier and HRH the Crown Prince to ensure the requirements of decent living to the citizens through providing them with social services, particularly housing.

The six-district Salman Town, once completed, will accommodate about 100,000 people, said Shaikh Abdulla, adding that the infrastructure of the town, and the basic services for other future projects are being completed.

With the accelerated pace of work in the new towns, the Housing Ministry has come close to translating HM the King’s order to build 40,000 housing units into the ground, which is a milestone in the housing march in the kingdom, he added.

On the “Khalifa Town” project, Shaikh Abdullah said it was one of the strategic projects being carried out by the Housing Ministry within the 25,000-unit programme included in the Government Action Plan.

He pointed out that more than 400 housing units had already completed in Khalifa Town and work was in full swing to launch the other phases.

Once completed, the key residential development will accommodate 54,000 people within its 6,000 units, he added.
