Bahrain's $119m waterfront project on fast track
MANAMA, April 4, 2018
Work is moving at a fast pace at Saada West Project, a BD45-million ($119 million) waterfront development in the Muharraq area of Bahrain, with the reclamation work fully completed, said a report.
An 18,000-sq-m area had been reclaimed and prepared, seawalls had been constructed and jetties had been established as part of the reclamation work, reported BNA.
Endorsed by HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the seafront property is being constructed by Bahrain Real Estate Investment (Edamah), the real estate arm of the Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat).
The ambitious project is being developed in two phases, where the Phase One will see a mix of residential and retail facilities including the construction of seven buildings and 45 restaurants and cafes. The work will be completed by the April next year, it stated.
HRH the Prime Minister, who toured the site as part of his field visits to the development projects which he had ordered in Muharraq, was briefed by the project’s consultants and engineers through a presentation on its progress, said the BNA report.
The Prime Minister was also briefed by the Deputy Premier and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, and Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, about the project’s progress, time frame and phases.
HRH Premier gave directives to expedite the construction of the multi-storey car-park, which connects the Saada Project and the Muharraq Market, and put it out to tender, urging to avoid traffic congestions during the construction works.
The Prime Minister also stressed the need to speed up the issuance of construction permits so as not to delay investments, or affect Bahrain’s competitive potentials, as the best means to main the kingdom’s status as a leading hub for investments and investors, stated the report.
HRH Premier highlighted the touristic and commercial importance of the project, which, he said, will achieve a quantum leap in the commercial and recreational services in Muharraq.
The Prime Minister stressed the government’s resolve to continue implementing service and urban projects across the kingdom’s towns and villages commensurate with their needs and the requirements of their inhabitants.
