Dewa in key co-operation talks with Veolia

DUBAI, February 25, 2018

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) held discussions with a high-level delegation from French water and energy management company Veolia aimed at developing co-operation between the two parties in the utility sector.

A high-level delegation from French water and energy management company recently visited Dewa and held key discussions with top officials.

The visit was aimed at further developing co-operation between the two parties in energy and water, as well as exchange best practices, experiences, and global practices, said a statement from Dewa.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the managing director and chief executive of Dewa, received the delegation, comprising Patrice Fonlladosa, the chairman of Veolia Middle East and Africa, Xavier Joseph, the chief executive of Veolia Middle East, Anas Derraz, the director of Strategic Partnerships in the Middle East, and Alex Musallam, DB director for the Middle East.

Senior Dewa officials including Waleed Salman, the executive VP of Business Development and Excellence also attended.

During the meeting, Al Tayer highlighted the importance of co-operation between the two parties.

Dewa, he stated, works tirelessly to build a robust infrastructure to enhance its total production capacity, which is currently 10,200MW of electricity and 470 million imperial gallons of desalinated water per day, MIGD, to meet Dubai’s current and future water demand and complementing the Emirate’s urban expansion and socio-economic growth.

Al Tayer, in turn, was briefed on Veolia’s services in the UAE, said the statement.

These included solutions in water desalination, innovative environmental services, sewage purification, among others. The delegation also expressed interest in participating in Dewa’s projects and initiatives, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
