Dubai Industrial Park has awarded a Dh135-million ($37 million) contract to Wade Adams, a Dubai-headquartered general construction and project development company, for the development of infrastructure and road expansion within its premises spread over a sprawling 16-million-sq-ft area.

A designated district within Dubai Wholesale City, Dubai Industrial Park is an industrial cluster designed to attract and support the growth of manufacturing and logistics hubs in the UAE. It is strategically located next to Al Maktoum Airport and in close proximity to the Jebel Ali Port.

The expansion works stem from the park’s commitment to pre-emptively address the potential growth of the industrial sector in Dubai and the wider UAE, which reflects the strides made since the launch of  Dubai Industrial Strategy in 2016, said a top official.

"Dubai Industrial Park is committed to meet the needs and requirements of its business partners and enable them to take advantage of the opportunities available and contribute to the UAE’s economic diversification," remarked its COO Saud Abu Shawareb.

"The UAE’s economy is witnessing significant growth of its non-oil sectors, particularly in the industrial domain, for its leading contribution to sustainable economic growth, in line with the government’s focus and resilient efforts to diversify the country’s economy and leverage its strategic location to serve as a trade corridor," he stated.

As per the annual results of Dubai Industrial Strategy, the industrial sector grew by 3.4 per cent in 2016 compared to the year before, making up 9.5 per cent of Dubai's total GDP, said Abu Shawareb.

Additionally, manufacturing increased 31.2 per cent in 2016, where industrial GDP reached Dh35.6 billion in 2016. The results of the strategy showed that total industrial exports surged 8.6 per cent to hit Dh143 billion, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
