MANAMA, January 2, 2018

Work is progressing well on the Postal Isolation Building project coming up at the Khalifa bin Salman Port in the industrial area of Hidd in Bahrain, with about 76 per cent of the development already completed.

The BD2.57-million ($6.7 million) project, being implemented by Asiri Contracting, will soon see the completion of the internal and external finishing works and general works taking place on site, said a statement from the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.

The work on the external fence, in addition to completion and hand over of the sub-power station to the Electricity & Water Authority, is due next, it stated.

The Postal Isolation Building aims to provide services related to the reception and isolation of postal packages and the related custom procedures for the benefit of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, said the statement.

The two-storey building will come up over a sprawling 10,907-sq-m area. The ground floor includes the main hall for isolation services and a custom hall, in addition to a postal packages hall, a reception hall, a rest area for the staff, a registration hall, companies’ hall, administrative offices and stores, while the first floor will house the postal administrative offices and a conference hall, it added.

The building boasts centralised air-conditioning and has elevators, a substation and generator, in addition to other related services, said Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf after visiting the project site.

The facility, which has been set up on green buildings specifications, has a parking lot that can accommodate 67 vehicles besides a guard’s room and public and private entrances, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
