Bahrain Marina project on track, piling in January

MANAMA, October 15, 2017

Work is progressing well on Phase One of Bahrain Marina, an iconic mixed-use project featuring a mix of residential, leisure, entertainment and marina facilities, with the piling likely to start in January next year, said the project developer.

‘Bahrain Marina’, dubbed as an iconic world-class facility, stretches along a pristine coastline in the heart of Manama and will be positioned as the kingdom’s prime lifestyle and leisure destination.

Aiming for Phase One completion by 2020, the mixed-use development will include a five-star lifestyle hotel, serviced and freehold apartments, waterfront villas along with a shopping district, fully-integrated family entertainment centre and a recreational waterfront space with dining and retail spaces, said a statement from Bahrain Marina Development Company.

A yacht club will also be built covering an impressive area with a marina capable of berthing a vast number of boats of different sizes.

The first phase of the marine works includes enabling and marine-related works such as silt removal, earthworks, shore protection, quay walls and culvert crossing in preparation for the construction stage of the project, it added.

A senior-level team from Bahrain Marina Development Company led by its chairman Abdulrahman Yusuf bin Yusuf Fakhro along with board members inspected the ongoing work at the project site and discussed the next phase.

During the site visit, the engineering team briefed the board members on the workflow of the project and current progress and achievements, highlighting that the progress of Phase One was in accordance with the planned timeframe and on track for piling work by January 2018.

In addition, they updated board members on Phase Two of the project.

"We are very pleased with the progress made so far with the project. Bahrain Marina without a doubt will be a unique addition to the tourism infrastructure in the kingdom, further developing and diversifying the economy," remarked Fakhro after the site inspection.

CEO Yazan Kamal Haddad said: "We are gratified with the progress of the first phase of the project, which is in line with the timeframe set forth."

"During the marine works phase, Bahrain Marina Development Company in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Environment is committed in using eco-friendly materials and techniques in order to preserve marine life and achieve project sustainability," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
