Haya Water takes over wastewater plant at Sohar

Oman’s Haya Water Company has recently taken over the wastewater treatment plants in Sohar from the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (MRMWR), a report said.
Haya Water has started to develop plans and proposals for increasing the capacity of the sewage treatment plant (STP); Hussain bin Hassan Abdul Hussain, CEO of the company was quoted as saying in the Oman Observer report.
There is a wastewater network with total length of 150 km and 20 lifting and pumping stations, the report said, adding that there is a treated effluent (TE) network, which is used for irrigation and afforestation.
Hussain said the company is currently working to increase the capacity of the STP to 15,000 cu m/day in order to provide wastewater treatment services for more residential and commercial units and expand the wastewater network to cover new areas in Suhar and cope with the demographic changes witnessed by the wilayat.
