Philips names new president for Mideast, Turkey

DUBAI, June 13, 2017

Philips Lighting, a global leader in lighting products, systems and services, has announced the appointment of Goktug Gur as the new president for the Middle East and Turkey region, effective June 15.

Currently the managing director for Turkey and Middle East (excluding Saudi Arabia), Gur will take on the new role, in addition to his current responsibilities. He will succeed Paolo Cervini who is moving to pursue further interests outside the company.

Announcing the appointment, Murali Sivaraman, the president (growth markets) at Philips Lighting, said: "Gur has a proven record of delivering projects and successfully leading our business across a number of markets. He brings with him more than two decades of leadership in the region."

His vast experience will help drive Philips Lighting Middle East and Turkey into a new era of LED (light emitting diode) adaptation, digitally connected lighting for the Internet of Things and sustainable innovation.

"We congratulate him on his new assignment. I would also like to thank Cervini for his valuable contribution throughout his career at Philips Lighting, building and maintaining a successful business in the region," he added.

Gur said he was excited to lead Philips Lighting through an inspiring phase in time and to build further on its regional operations. He moved to Dubai in March after four years in the role of CEO for Philips Lighting Turkey.
 
"There is an enormous opportunity that lies ahead for Philips Lighting and I look forward to working closely with our regional team to lead this next chapter of lighting for brighter lives and a better world while focusing on growth and delivering the best results for our customers," he added.

A graduate from Yıldız Technical University, Department of Electrical Engineering in Turkey, Gur brings vast knowledge of the project business and regional experience having spent over 20 years in leadership positions within the region.

He also has MBA degrees from the Marmara University, Turkey and the University of Maine, US. Over his 23-year career, he has delivered several marketing and solution-oriented projects in the energy sector, working across the Mediterranean, Central Asia and Middle East regions including Turkey.-TradeArabia News Service
