New RO plants to be set up in Umm Al Quwain

UMM AL QUWAIN, June 12, 2017

The northern emirate of Umm Al Quwain has joined hands with the UAE Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa) to develop reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plants to ensure and sustain freshwater sources in the emirate, said a report.

The building of these water plants is part of the strategic objectives of the state to ensure and sustain freshwater sources. This comes in light of the steady increase in consumption in all residential, economic, industrial and cultural sectors in the UAE, reported Emirati news agency Wam.

An agreement was signed on June 11 in this regard during a key event which was attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain and the chairman of the Umm Al Quwain executive council.

Fewa has studied the latest technologies in the field of desalination, which help reduce production costs, it added.
