UAE reviews final draft of water security strategy
ABU DHABI, May 16, 2017
The UAE Ministry of Energy has reviewed the final draft of the water security strategy in co-operation with the federal and local authorities concerned with water affairs.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry called on the public and social media users to shun rumours and ensure that the news or information is accurate before they circulate or publish it, reported state news agency Wam.
The ministry warning comes following media reports stating that an Emirati company was planning to "tow an iceberg from Antartica and importing water through a pipeline from another country."
Rubbishing the report "an iceberg or water being imported through a pipeline from another state is under way" as rumours, the ministry urged the public to communicate directly with the ministry through the official channels and place their queries rather than blindly believing such media reports.
