Renowned architect to speak at Italian Design Day event
MANAMA, February 28, 2017
The Italian Embassy in Bahrain will mark the Italian Design Day with a talk by renowned Italian architect Francesco Librizzi on March 2.
Librizzi will talk on “Archetype, Prototype, Stereotype” and his design philosophy, accompanied by a pop-up exhibition of his works, a statement said.
The event is being organised by the Italian Embassy at the Bahrain National Museum as part of the Spring of Culture 2017. There will also be a cocktail reception. The event starts at 6.30 pm
Explaining the subject of discussion, the statement said: "Every architectural project is in dialogue with the landscape and the city, which is the place where we keep on revisiting our best ideas. Those, once verified are defined as sacred and called Archetypes. In the city architecture meets the citizens, with their beliefs, their shared opinions, their common sense, their need for total happiness: Architecture faces the Stereotypes. Thus, as a discipline, Architecture is asked to respond to what is in front of it. It means it has to provide answers to questions which are always new. Therefore its answers, even being sometimes rooted in the past, are continuously renovated. Architectural statements are always to be verified; they need time to find their place in memory: they are Prototypes."
The Italian Design Day, launched by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, will be celebrated in more than 100 cities around the world. 100 'Ambassadors' of Italian culture (designers, entrepreneurs, journalists, critics, communicators, educators) will discuss a project of excellence. The event represents an absolute 'premiere' in this field, said the statement.
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has chosen design as one of the major assets of integrative actions for the promotion of Italy and Italian lifestyle. Italian design, in fact, permeates all the different levels of Italian life: from culture to industry, from science to philosophy, to the extent in which it has become a pillar of "living Italian style", it said.
Moreover, design represents a powerful engine for the Italian economy. - TradeArabia News Service
