Fugro completes Dubai tower site investigation work
DUBAI, November 23, 2016
Fugro, a leading provider of geo-intelligence and asset integrity solutions for large constructions, infrastructure and natural resources, said it has conducted an extensive geotechnical investigation campaign for ‘The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour’, the latest addition to the city’s skyline.
The contract was awarded by top regional developer Emaar Properties for the geotechnical investigation which involved collecting data on topography, soil composition and environmental conditions, both onshore and offshore, said a statement from Fugro.
Because of the height and design of the structure, ground engineering is critical in the programme schedule and foundation design, it stated.
"We deployed resources and expertise to meet a demanding design programme and to ensure the results of the site investigation were of the highest quality,” explained Peter Brooke, Fugro’s business delivery manager.
The scope of works included over 4,800 m of triple tube coring to depths of up to 200 m and 225 in-situ pressure meter tests, said the Dutch-listed company.
A full range of standard and specialist geotechnical laboratory testing was also undertaken on the recovered core.
To complete the campaign, Fugro carried out downhole P and S suspension logging, said Brooke.
This programme represents one of the most comprehensive geotechnical investigations undertaken in the region and the acquired information will be the base for the foundation and piling designs, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
