Gulf Industry Fair to highlight diversification in GCC
MANAMA, September 21, 2016
The 10th edition of Gulf Industry Fair (GIF) takes place next February at a critical time for the promotion of the economic diversification of the GCC, according to event organiser Hilal Conferences and Exhibitions (HCE).
Gulf Industry Fair 2017 takes place from February 7 to 9 under the patronage of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of Bahrain.
“Despite a regional economic slowdown caused by low oil prices, ongoing investment in GCC industrial infrastructure remains strong. Notably, the announcement earlier this year of Saudi Arabia’s long-term 2030 Vision blueprint is likely to be a key driver of the Gulf’s industrial ambitions in the coming years as the region’s biggest economy accelerates diversification efforts,” said Jubran Abdulrahman, managing director of HCE.
“Gulf Industry Fair is dedicated to promoting the economic opportunities arising from the march to diversifying the economies of the GCC,” he added.
Gulf Industry Fair has built its unique reputation as a one-stop shop for key sectors of industrial development. GIF has concentrated on the aluminium sector, energy and environmental protection, industrial metals, industrial processes and manufacturing, logistics and industrial facilities, industrial security and safety, ports and maritime industries as well as training for industry.
“In 2016, GIF proved to be a successful showcase for both the exhibitors and visitors. The event attracted 3,325 unique registered visitors. Analysis of the demographics of the visitors revealed that 15 per cent of the visitors attending came from Saudi Arabia and 43 per cent of the total visitor numbers were decision makers,” said Ahmed Suleiman, exhibitions director.
“For 2017, we will be looking to add to the large exhibitor participation from Saudi Arabia and build upon the Training for Industry workshops, seminars and conferences which provide an invaluable opportunity to exchange skills and knowledge between the participants,” added Suleiman.
Gulf Industry Fair is supported by leading industrial giants in Bahrain, including the National Oil & Gas Authority (Noga) in association with Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), both of which are in the midst of major expansion projects. – TradeArabia News Service
