Oman starts work on new water pipeline

MUSCAT, June 12, 2016

The Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) has started work on a new water pipeline along the Al Bustan-Sidab Toad which will cater to the residents of Muttrah and Muscat region.

The new pipeline is expected to be operational by the end of this year, reported Oman Observer.

It is aimed at ensuring an alternative pipeline to feed the governorates of Muttrah and Muscat in lieu of the existing one located alongside the coastal road. The project comes as part of the authority’s plan to replace old and outdated pipelines, said the report.

The project involves building a 1,600-mm diameter carbon steel water pipeline from the Al Ghubra water desalination plant to the pumping station in Wadi Adai besides a 6.32-km ductile iron transmission line connecting the reservoirs of Ruwi and Wadi Kabir, it added.
