Bahrain to start key road revamp projects

Bahrain Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning has announced plans to start road revamp projects in key areas across the kingdom besides construction of new parking lots.
Work will soon begin on construction of a parking lot near Buhair Park, which will have 17 parking spaces, said Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Khayyat, the works undersecretary at the ministry.
He was touring the third constituency of the Southern Governorate, accompanied by Ahmed Al Ansari, the chairman of the Southern Municipal Council and Maha Hamada, the chief of roads designs at the ministry.
During the visit, Al Khayyat listened to a number of proposals raised by Al Ansari, including paving three locations in Block 933 and converting them to parking lots to solve the issues of parking spaces shortage, constructing a parking lot along Road 3318 in Block 933 close to Buhair Park, revamping Road 3323 in Block 933, expanding and re-paving Road 3410 parallel to Estiqlal Highway in Block 934, paving Road 4110 in Block 941 and solving the issue of storm water flood in a number of locations in the area.
Al Khayyat said the three locations suggested by Al Ansari could be converted into parking lots once they get approval from higher authorities.
On the road projects, Al Khayyat said the detailed designs for Road 3323 in Block 933 have been completed and work will commence once the minisstry's consent is obtained.
The ministry has also prepared preliminary designs for the expansion of Road 3410; parallel to Estiqlal Highway, and has also started preparing designs for the construction of Road 4110 in Block 941, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
