Aabar to build 6,000 housing units in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, May 4, 2016

Aabar Properties, a subsidiary of International Petroleum Investment Company (Ipic), is constructing 6,000 units across Abu Dhabi, UAE, said a report.

Of these, some have been completed, while others are in various stages of construction, reported the Gulf News, citing a top official.

"Aabar Properties owns many projects in Abu Dhabi. Some are complete like the mixed-use tower The Wave in Reem Island while some are being transferred to clients. There are other projects which are in the design stage," remarked Suhail Al Mazroui, the Minister of Energy and managing director of Ipic.

He was speaking after touring some of the projects of Aabar Properties in Abu Dhabi.

"We are focusing on quality while constructing,” said Al Mazroui, while speaking to reporters in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

The minister admitted that some projects were late or delayed because Aabar was keen to maintain the quality.

"We don’t want to deliver the project which we will have problems in the long run. Quality is the most important thing for us," he added.

Aabar Properties has been building a growing portfolio since its launch in 2010. It is developing a number of projects in Al Reem Island, Al Raha beech, Rawdhat and Saraya in Abu Dhabi.

The company, however, did not give any deadline for project completion or the cost involved in the project.
