Habtoor to build Dubai-style residential city in Cairo
DUBAI, January 9, 2016
Al Habtoor Group, a leading family-owned UAE conglomerate, plans to build a huge mixed-use development comprising three luxury hotels alongside three high-rise residential towers on a sprawling 800,000 sq m of land in Cairo, Egypt.
The project, which is being planned on the lines of its mammoth Dubai development, is set to become one of the largest cities in the region once completed, said a statement from Al Habtoor Group.
Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, the group chairman, said he has submitted the proposal for the ambitious project to the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi.
The Al Habtoor City Cairo incorporates three luxury internationally-branded hotels, three high-rise residential towers as well as a cluster of mid-rise residential apartment blocks besides 204 luxury villas set within picturesque landscaping. The project boasts state-of-the-art facilities, an international school, a shopping complex, two polo fields and a golf course.
It is based on the group’s highly-anticipated Al Habtoor City project in Dubai, which incorporates three luxury hotels alongside three high-rise residential towers on the banks of the Dubai Water Canal, revealed Al Habtoor while speaking to Al Arabiya TV channel about the giant project.
"It would be a vibrant community in the heart of the city and new landmark in Cairo. It would provide much-needed jobs for the Egyptian people and would be a great boost to the city’s economy," said the top official.
The Al Habtoor City in Dubai will be opening in phases. The first hotel within the development, The St. Regis Dubai, opened late 2015. The two other hotels are scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2016 (W Dubai – Al Habtoor City, and Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City).
Complementing the development would be numerous high-end retailers, and multiple food and beverage outlets within the hotels and shopping complex.
The shopping centre will boast of 290,000 sq m of rental retail space, he stated.
"There is nothing like this anywhere in the world. It is all encompassing. Residents and guests would have everything they need on their doorstep," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
