Dubai-based Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), a leading district cooling services provider, participated in the ongoing UN Framework Convention on Climate Change’s 21st Conference of Parties(COP21) in Paris, France.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, chief executive officer of Empower participated in  a session titled ‘Sustainable Energy Solution in the Built Environment – a Dialogue’, where he highlighted ‘Recommendations to cities on choosing the right technology’, during a panel discussion themed ‘City-business Dialogue on Scaling Up’.

The Empower delegation attended several other conferences that will was held alongside COP21, most importantly the World Climate Summit and networking sessions with high-level climate stakeholders.  

“Our main objective in participating at COP21 was to review the implementation of sustainable cooling systems around the world, and share our experience in District Cooling,” said Bin Shafar. “Looking at COP20 held in Lima, we noticed serious steps being initiated toward climate change, which has encouraged us to be part of the event this year.”

“This is the right time for district cooling to be recognised for its positive impact on the climate. We call on COP21 participants to benefit from our experience in Dubai, and understand the tangible benefits for the economy and environment,” said Bin Shafar.
