New smart grid station to come up in Dubai.
Korean firm seals Dubai smart grid project deal
DUBAI, October 29, 2015
The state-run Korea Electric Power Corporation has signed a smart grid project deal worth $3 million with Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa), said a report.
Under the deal, Kepco will build a smart grid station within the “Green Garage” building, operated by Dewa. The station will manage solar power generation and energy storage facilities, reported the Korea Herald.
With this move, Korea’s largest utility company has made its foray into the Middle East as a smart grid solution provider, it stated.
Dewa launched the pilot smart grid project with Kepco as part of the “Smart City” project, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, back in 2013, the report added.
