GCC carpet, flooring industry to grow 30pc

JEDDAH, July 13, 2015

The carpet and flooring industry in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is set to continue grow at about 30 per cent annually until 2020, according to an expert.

The growth has been attributed to the region’s young and fast-growing population, coupled with two large international events set to take place in the region including the Dubai Expo 2020 and the Qatar World Cup 2022, said Talal Al Sorayai, member of the board, Al Sorayai Group.

It is in line with the continued growth in the GCC’s construction sector between 2015 and 2018, driven by a number of factors including favourable macroeconomic environment, rising population and increasing tourism activities.

Al Sorayai’s comments came during the annual Ramadan Iftar hosted by the group, which is a leading Saudi industrial and trading company in flooring and furnishings.

The event was attended by more than 1,300 employees from across all divisions and departments of the group.

The annual Iftar, which was held at the workers’ compound in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is one of a series of events the group hosts to celebrate its employees achievement and dedication. - TradeArabia News Service
