Cofely Besix wins UAE mall contract

Cofely Besix Facility Management said it has won a major contract to provide facility management services to Remal Mall located in Al Ain region.
Owned by Al Dar Properties PJSC, Remal Mall is a six-storey building designed with a touch of traditional Arabian architecture, including two basement car parks with a capacity of 1200 vehicles, as well as loading docks and services areas.
The retail destination has several retail units spread over a gross floor area of 128,890 sq m which includes a hypermarket, anchor stores, shops, a food court, and cinema.
Remal Mall currently has more than 175 outlets with a 46,920 sq m leasable area, hosting many local and international brands such as Carrefour, Axiom, Royal furniture, La Brioche, Il Forno, Dubai Islamic Bank.
On the contract, Cofely Besix Facility Management said it is initially for a three-year period, but is extendable to five years.
The scope of work includes 24-hour facilities management of the mall operations, the initial planned preventive maintenance (PPM) setup, all mechanical electrical and plumbing (MEP) operations and maintenance, building maintenance system (BMS) monitoring and control, as well as tenant integration into the mall.
The operations and maintenance of electrical systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, fire and life systems, as well as potable water and other amenities is also covered under the contract, said the company in a statement.
“This is the second mall in the region to appoint Cofely Besix Facility Management to manage its’ facilities management services," stated Ian Harfield, CEO of Cofely Besix Facility Management.
"We also currently look after Dubai Mall and we are very proud to be known as one of the most experienced FM company in the region to manage malls successfully," he added.
It is a joint-venture set up by Cofely Services and the Besix Group in 2008 to provide integrated facility management services in the Middle East. The company presently employs 650 staff members in the UAE and 800 in Qatar.-TradeArabia News Service
