Leading interior design company Workspace International has won the People’s Choice Award in the 2015 Index Majlis Design Competition held in Dubai, UAE.

The award was given to Workspace International for introducing its concept Ubique Majlis at the 2015 Index, a key trade exhibition for the textile, furniture and interior design and manufacturing industries held recently in Dubai.

It was also awarded with the 2nd Judges Choice Award, said a top official.

On the win, CEO Ippa Hertzberg said: "We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand and gave us their votes and feedback."

The contest celebrated its seventh year with a theme “Light Years Ahead” and invited design professionals to rethink the "majlis" meaning place of sitting in Arabic by giving it a contemporary, avantgarde and alternate perspective.

Workspace International’s Ubique Majlis was named after the latin word ubique meaning everywhere, said Hertzberg.
 
“Winning the People’s Choice Award and being successful in the Judges Choice Awards in the annual Index Majlis Design Contest means a world to us as the majlis is such a traditional feature of Arabic interior design and plays a significant role in Arab culture and heritage,” remarked Kenny Hytönen, the head designer who accepted the awards with Hertzberg.

Explaining the concept, Hytönen said: "As our world is becoming more and more virtual, our Ubique majlis is a place where we can come together to be here and everywhere at the same time."

The Ubique Majlis manufactured by Al Zaher Interiors is available in both indoor and outdoor models allowing the guest to enjoy the Arabic living wherever, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
