Zamil unit wins $11m deal for Jazan refinery project

JEDDAH, May 5, 2015

Zamil Structural Steel Company, a subsidiary of Zamil Industrial Investment Company, has won a SR43.8-million ($11.7 million) deal from SK Engineering and Construction Company to supply various structural products for Package 9 of the Jazan Refinery and Terminal project in the southern region of Saudi Arabia.

The contract includes the fabrication and supply of a large tonnage of pipe racks, equipment support structures, platforms, shelters, and other steel products for Saudi Aramco’s Jazan refinery, which will be the mainstay of a new economic city, and will contribute to the fulfilment of economic development objectives in Jazan, said a statement.

The refinery, which is expected to be completed in late next year, will have the capacity to process 400,000 barrels per day, it said.

The additional refined products from the new facility will satisfy the growth in domestic demand within Saudi Arabia.

The Jazan refinery and terminal project will also be co-ordinated with a large integrated gasification combined-cycle plant, which is set to be operational in 2017, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
