Night suq ..... main attraction of the Deira Islands development.

Nakheel floats tenders for Deira Islands development

DUBAI, December 30, 2014

Nakheel, a leading developer in the region, has invited bids to construct a night suq and boardwalk at the Deira Islands development in Dubai, UAE.

The 68-hectare development will feature retail outlets on the ground floor and food and beverage outlets that will spread across an area of 160,000 sq m on the ground and first floors, said a statement from Nakheel.

The project, comprising a spacious waterfront promenade and the night suq, extends over a 1.9-km stretch, and is divided into four villages.

It will utilise prefabricated systems in order to facilitate light and easy construction, development flexibility and optimised future tenant fit-out, said the Dubai-based developer.

Comprising four linked islands, Deira Islands is a 4.5 million-sq-m project that is being partly developed by Nakheel. The islands will feature hotels, resorts and residential, commercial and retail units.

The night suq will be the main attraction of the Deira Islands development, which will serve as a unique retail destination for residents and tourists alike, it stated.

The deadline for submitting bids is March 1, 2015.

The project will also boast of the Deira Islands Mall, a 250-room hotel, an amphitheatre for 30,000 people and a marina. More than 280,000 people are expected to eventually live there, and the projected number of new hotel rooms is 50,000.

Nakheel will masterplan and complete infrastructure work ready for third-party development on each island. The developer also plans to build five hotels of its own at Deira Islands.-TradeArabia News Service
