Dubai firm's robots in action at The Big 5
DUBAI, November 17, 2014
DigiRobotics, a provider of digital and 3D industrial solutions, has robots in action at The Big 5 show, a premier building construction show which opened today (November 17) at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, UAE.
The Dubai-based company is the official business partner for Kuka, Germany, for digital robotic solutions.
At The Big 5 show where it is making its debut, the company is showcasing its robots for cutting and welding, stone engraving, wood and foam engraving, automation solutions, entertainment and many other applications.
“We are at The Big 5 as we want to showcase and introduce robotic technology to everyone. We are not only displaying our robots but will show them in action during the show,” stated Gautam Ahuja, the business development manager at DigiRobotics.
“Industries and corporates can realise the potential of the robots and how they can play an important role in their manufacturing and trading process,” he added.
These robots are made in collaboration with high-tech robotic manufacturers such as Kuka (Germany), CNC Robotics and software specialists such as Delcam/Powermill (both from UK).
“Our focus is on robotic technologies and advanced engineering products to modify and develop the full package of automated and robotic solutions which can meet almost every single aspect of the industrial, commercial, educational and personal needs and requirements of today and the future,” said Ahuja.
The company said its seven-axis robots have been designed for the following applications:
•Engraver – to engrave wood, stone, marble, metal, foam, polyurethane (PU), and plastic in 3D and 4D shapes;
•Laser cutter – to cut metal at high speed and with high accuracy and efficiency using a fibre laser;
•Plasma cutter - to cut and weld all kinds of metal using plasma and argon welding technology;
•Painter – to paint all kinds of materials;
•Water-jet cutter – to cut marble, metal and glass;
•Handling and moving products – in the production line; and
•Educational robots – for schools, universities and vocational training institutes.
The company has already installed two robots in the UAE - at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and Gulf Technical.
It is also in the final stages of supplying another 10 to 13 robots to a new company being set up in Dubai. In addition, it has supplied two robots in Saudi Arabia.
“We introduced the technology to the market this year and have already sold and installed four robots and hopefully this number will rise to 20 by the year-end,” said Ahuja.
"The UAE is a huge market in its own. There are over 500 companies that fit in our target group, which is a great advantage for us. We have so many prospective clients in our own country, that if we put in 100 per cent efforts within the UAE, we will more than survive,” he noted.
“Thanks to the initiatives taken by the UAE government, the construction industry has grown by leaps and bounds and will continue to do so,” he added.
Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait are the other potential markets within the GCC, said Ahuja. The company is also eyeing the Russian and African markets, he added.
The biggest development for the company has been the tie-up with Kuka Germany, for which it is the official business partner for robotics in the Middle East and Africa.
DigiRobotics has an office in Dubai besides two warehouses and is currently in the process of adding another office and warehouse. "It is focused on expansion and is constantly looking at solutions to improve and introduce newer products within digital technology," Ahuja said.
“We are looking at some agencies and should be in a position to finalise these by this year end,” he added.
